MISCELLANEOUS QB1 NOTES AND COMMENTS |
December 21, 2004
Reworked the Top 300 with Three Drops table to eliminate the very large load that it put on the server. Completed.
Tried to catch the known and visible games played by people away from their regular location. If I missed yours, please let me know.
December 13, 2004
Some BB MAGRAW scores had a double-space between BB and Magraw which prevented it from matching properly. Thanks to Doug, BULDOO, for pointing out the problem.
A number of players were credited with "road" games. If I didn't catch yours, please let me know.
A number of teams did not show up in the scores posted by NTN this week. NTN has been asked to re-poll the sites. If an updated list of scores is made available, the database on this site will be updated.
In preparation for the elimination rounds of the tournament, a phone number for each qualifying team will be included on this site. Individual player phone numbers at those sites (as made available) will be displayed a few days before the competition begins.
December 10, 2004
NTN supplied updated scores (sites and players) for the November 1, 2004 game. A few missing scores are now available and included on this site.
At the same time, I removed a score attributed to QUICKY playing at TGIF in Cerritos, California, on November 1st. One person using someone else's handle and getting a great score didn't add up right. (There is a QUICKY who was playing at East Side Mario's in Lakewood that day.) NTN had already removed the 13 scores above that one and now that number is 14. WRCHKN gets credit for a win in that game.
December 09, 2004
NTN removed Side Pocket in Kansas City from the "qualified" list. TGIFridays in Las Vegas has taken their place as a fifth week qualifier.
NTN provided the missing November 1st team score for Mr. V's in Victorville. Still trying to get the player's data for that same game.
December 08, 2004
Tried to catch all of the road games. If I didn't catch yours, please let me know.
NTN changed the list of the "qualified" teams; the list on this site was updated to reflect the latest changes.
BO alerted me to a quirk in the November 8th team scores -- the # sign was missing from the names that normally included it. I believe they've all been corrected now.
December 01, 2004
Added seeding lists based on total score and relative rank. NTN has stated that they will use best seven of eight scores as total score to determine seed.
November 24, 2004
Added "average playmakers in use" but this number is not supplied by NTN. It is derived from the players data but there is no way to separate the BWW locations in a single city from each other. The average playmaker number for those locations is the average of the total playmakers in use for all locations with that name in that city. (Applies to all chains, not just BWW.)
For those I'm aware of, "road" game scores have been credited to you at your home location. If I didn't get yours, please let me know.
Anyone receiving a P+ NEW at any time, please let me know -- include real handle, team, city, state, date, and score.
November 20, 2004
Made a number of changes to the program scripts to accommodate ALL team scores. Now, all team and all player scores available are included here. All player scores have always been included but the team scores had been limited to the Top 100 only.
My thanks to BO (Chris Gum) for supplying the scores for the October 18th game.
November 16, 2004
Credited the following players with scores earned away from their "home" location:
COACH, CYA, MARINO, MONEY, OFCDPT, WLGRNS, PHYDOE, ZANDER, KIDROK, and BIZKIT.
Changed handles to reflect new registered names for: HOLDEM, and MADLEE
November 11, 2004
Added the ability to include scores from different locations in a player's statistics. This feature is in use for all players I am aware of including: BO, SHEEP, CYA, MARINO, COACH, JIMI, STAX, KNOX, FANG, RENEE, URDONE, STLTAZ, BOBOKE, ACE, TORUDE, GERG, SUPERJ, FRINK, PUMA, HOMER, AND PTANG.
In reference to my comments of November 3, 2004: NTN has added a column with the site number to the posted scores. It replaced the column containing the number of playmakers in use.
November 08, 2004
Requirements for ranking and display set as follows:
After four weeks of competition, include all players and teams with up to one score missing. After eight weeks, include all players and teams with up to two scores missing. After twelve weeks, include all players and teams with up to three scores missing.
November 03, 2004
NTN changed the name for Humperdinks in Richardson, TX from HUMPERDNK4 to HUMPERDINK sometime before Monday's NFL game. All of the previous QB1 entries with the old site name have been changed. Since NTN does not print the unique site number in a column with the scores, those of us doing rankings have to find a unique identifier for each site. On this site, that unique identifier is a combination of the name assigned by NTN, the name assigned by NTN to the city, and the state or province abreviation. When NTN changes any part of that combination, all of the previous data for that site has to be changed to match the new names. NTN has been asked to include the site number several times but, so far, it hasn't been added. (The site number is included in the game score files provided by NTN via e-mail.)
November 03, 2004
NTN changed the name of Instant Replay in Middleburg, Ohio. They also erroneously changed the name of the city to Middleton. With NTN's quality control, I'm just glad that they don't produce something that a life could depend on.
November 02, 2004
Once again, NTN mixed the Canadian players and sites with the US players and sites. By itself that wouldn't necessarily be a problem but the US scores and the Canadian scores are ranked separately producing two #1s, two #2s, and so on. One big mess!
Mr. V's in Victorville did not report; there may be other teams missing, too. As those scores come in, they'll be added.
NTN still hasn't fixed the ranks assigned to teams and players with negative scores.
October 27, 2004
The scores posted by NTN included all of the Canadian locations. Since those locations are in a separate set of competitions, the Canadian sites have been removed from the Top 100. The individual Canadian players have also been removed from the player list.
October 27, 2004
The name for Derby in Norcross GA changed between September 13 and September 20. The name listed for the September 13th game was changed to be consistent with the subsequent games.
October 24, 2004
Shorty Smalls had a technical problem on October 4th. The 9 Shorty Smalls players scores have been moved from Lumpy's to Shorty Smalls for that date. The top five scores at Lumpy's were earned by Shorty Smalls players -- the Lumpy's average belonged to Shorty Smalls. A new average for Lumpys (19,074) was calculated using the top five of the nine remaining scores. That put Lumpy's in 92nd place as a team.
October 21, 2004
There is a small bug in the ranking assigned by NTN to some of the QB1 players. It only affects those with less than 1,000 points. The ranking assigned to scores with negative points gets mixed in with positive points. A score of -90 points is ranked between a score with 900 points and 890 points. This bug won't affect the better players.
October 20, 2004
An analysis of the top 100 scores for the first six games shows that something unusual occurred during the second week (September 20). The Std. Dev. is much larger that week meaning that the scores were spread out over a much wider (more than twice as wide) range. We all know what that factor was.
Additionally, the October 11th game produced the best average score and the first game of the season produced the worst.
View the data for yourself.
October 18, 2004
Mr. V's did not report. The scores were:
MARINO, 26620; CYA, 25040; QBTAZZ, 25640; QBPITT, 24500.
The bar average was 25530
Those scores have been added to the database.
